Free Recipe: Blaster Bars
(a.k.a. Mars Bar Squares)
There are a few recipes that just belong in a baker’s collection — the kind that show up at every potluck, disappear from every tray, and spark that little “ohhh, you made those?” moment the second someone spots them. For me, Blaster Bars are one of those recipes.
I’ve been making these chewy, chocolatey, caramel-swirled beauties for more than 25 years, and they’ve never once failed to make people smile. Known to many as Mars Bar Squares, they’re everything you love about a classic no-bake treat — quick to make, wildly addictive, and somehow even better the next day (if they last that long).
They’ve been a bakery staple, a family favorite, and a constant in my kitchen through every season. There’s just something about that combination of crisp rice cereal, melted chocolate, and gooey candy bar filling that hits the sweet spot between nostalgic and irresistible.
You’ll still find them on my menu today because, honestly, they’re just too good not to keep around — but they’ve also been one of my most requested recipes for years. So in true Recipe Workshop spirit, I decided it was time to stop gatekeeping and finally share them with everyone.
This isn’t a secret recipe or something I created — it’s one of those timeless, well-loved classics that’s been passed from kitchen to kitchen for decades. I didn’t invent it; I just never stopped making it. And I think that’s part of what makes it special — it’s a shared memory, a treat that connects generations through something simple and sweet.
Whether you remember grabbing one from The Avenue days or you’re discovering them for the first time here at The Recipe Workshop, this is one recipe that truly stands the test of time.
Because some treats don’t need reinvention — they just need to be shared.
